‘About Me’ pages are nerve-racking to write. It makes you take a step back to examine who you are and how you want to be perceived by your audience.

It’s common to find that lots of people share how they always wanted to be **fill in the current path they are on** since they were young. That’s not our story.

The Short Story

We are identical twins and have a lot of the same interests. We write about SEO, AI, and content marketing.

At the moment, I can think of only one thing we don’t share an interest in —Calligraphy (the art of beautiful handwriting).

Something must have gone wrong in the womb for a certain person (Tolani) to not grin from ear to ear at the sight of a well-done flourish. 😋

The Long Story

After graduating high school, things didn’t quite go as planned. When you’re young, you have this idea of the steps you must take to be successful because that’s what you’ve seen and been told works.

But what happens when a lack of funds gets in the way of that and causes you to drop out of school after getting multiple admissions to study law?

Because that’s what happened to us.

Where we’re from, at the time, there were no student loans from the government. If you didn’t have money, you didn’t get an education. It’s as simple as that.

There was barely enough money for one person to go to school. As a family of four, we decided that it only made sense for our younger brother to be the one to get an education.

We couldn’t imagine one of us going to university while the other one stayed back.

Having to make such a decision teaches you to be realistic, decisive, and less emotional when making decisions.

This period in our lives was devastating. It caused us a lot of anxiety because we were constantly worrying about the kind of future we were going to have without a university degree.

In our minds, no degree meant no future.

Knowing we wouldn’t get the opportunities a university degree could offer us, we got a few informal jobs over the years.

We also tried to figure out what we could do that didn’t require us to work a 9 to 5 so we embarked on a journey to find what path to take.

We tried a few different things like event planning (bored out of our minds 😴), tailoring for a couple of months (hated it! 😩), and taking a course on blog writing (enjoyed that 😁).

We made personal development a lifestyle, and that helped build our confidence.

Our Intro To Digital Marketing

We always knew we wanted to be entrepreneurs but never could decide what path to take.

We became drawn to the idea of being online business owners when we realized how much we enjoyed binge-reading long-form blog posts about digital marketing and entrepreneurship.

Talking about it with each other was exciting, and daydreaming about it made us smile.

Every blog post we read, helped us familiarise ourselves with this fascinating industry until we decided ‘this is what I want to do’.

In late 2020, we moved to a smaller city where we started working on a fruit and vegetable farm.

We ran into all kinds of creatures like snakes (luckily only constrictors), scorpions (lots 🤪), monitor lizards (Tunrayo called it a Komodo dragon 🙄 when she saw it) and what I suspect are hawks swooping down to grab unsuspecting chicks eating from the compost pile.

While all this was going on, we started working on starting our online business as a side hustle.

A couple of years later, we launched our business, and it went from something abstract to applying all we learned from the courses we took and getting real-world results with digital marketing.

In the beginning, nothing went right.

From setting up web hosting (we raised three tickets in 24 hours), building our website (our blog archive page disappeared from WordPress. Still don’t know how that happened.), and setting up Google Analytics & Console (error message after error message).

It felt like the technical stuff was going to break us, and we would never actually get to the point of creating content.

But we prayed, and I believe the Lord directed us to fix some of these issues without knowing what the heck we were doing.

We know the fear of having to do something completely out of your comfort zone, but our goal is to make it a lot less overwhelming and easier for you to grasp.

No matter how many roadblocks you run into, I hope our story encourages you not to give up.
